Mango Falooda is a delightful and refreshing dessert that originates from the Indian subcontinent. It is a layered dessert drink that combines the flavors of ripe mangoes, falooda sev (vermicelli noodles), sabja seeds (basil seeds), rose syrup, chilled milk, and various toppings.
HERE'S A RECIPE FOR MANGO FALOODA:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced
- 2 cups chilled milk
- 2 tablespoons sabja seeds (basil seeds)
- 1/4 cup falooda sev (vermicelli noodles)
- 2 tablespoons rose syrup
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (such as almonds, pistachios)
- 2 scoops mango ice cream
Ice cubes (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Soak the sabja seeds in water for about 15 minutes until they swell up. Drain any excess water and set aside.
- Cook the falooda sev according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and rinse them under cold water to cool them down. Set aside.
- In a blender or food processor, puree the diced mango until smooth. Set aside.
- In serving glasses, start by layering a tablespoon of rose syrup at the bottom of each glass.
- Next, add a few tablespoons of cooked falooda sev to each glass.
- Sprinkle a teaspoon of soaked sabja seeds on top of the sev in each glass.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of mango puree into each glass.
- Add a scoop of mango ice cream to each glass.
- Add another layer of falooda sev, soaked sabja seeds, and a drizzle of rose syrup.
- Pour chilled milk into each glass, leaving some space at the top for garnishing.
- Top each glass with chopped nuts.
- If desired, add a few ice cubes to each glass to make it more refreshing.
- Give the falooda a gentle stir before serving to mix all the layers together.
- Serve the Mango Falooda immediately and enjoy!
To garnish the falooda, chopped nuts such as almonds and pistachios are sprinkled on top, adding a delightful crunch and nutty flavor. Finally, some versions of mango falooda may include a few ice cubes to make it more refreshing, especially during hot summer days.
Before serving, the layers are gently mixed to ensure that each spoonful is a combination of the various flavors and textures. Mango falooda is typically enjoyed with a long spoon or straw.
This dessert offers a delightful combination of fruity sweetness, creaminess, and texture. It is a perfect treat to cool down and indulge in during warm weather or as a delightful ending to a meal.
Note: You can also add additional toppings like diced mangoes, jelly, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Feel free to customize the falooda according to your taste preferences.
Delicious!
