INTRODUCING JUI GHOSH, AN ACCOMPLISHED ARTIST AND THE FOUNDER OF JWEL BEADS.
Jui Ghosh is from Kolkata. She run a small Facebook page for handmade costomised clay jewellery, and that's where her journey started. She really love her art and create raw clay jewellery bases of any kind of design. Many jewellery makers lack the expertise or resources to create intricate clay designs, so she specialise in crafting custom clay jewellery bases tailored to their specific design needs. Her jewellery brand recently completed 2 years.
She have been doing clay work since she was 4 years old, starting with making idols of Goddess Durga. They didn't turn out perfectly, but she enjoyed making them. She used to do this clay work purely out of interest. Her family didn't like her work much, and she didn't received much support. At that time, she didn't even have a proper space to work, so she used to work in a corner of the storeroom at her home.
After finishing school, she worked as a helper in a clay art studio for 3 years. Later, she left that job and started making clay jewellery on her own. She then thought about starting her own online business but needed capital to invest. Gradually, she saved some funds and launched her small online brand, called Jwel Beads. Since then, she has been successfully running this handmade clay jewellery base business with dedication and passion.
Clay art involves the moulding and shaping of clay into various forms, from intricate sculptures to functional items such as pottery and decorative pieces. She work with different types of clay—air-dry, polymer, or ceramic—each offering unique textures and finishes. This versatile medium allows for the creation of a wide range of items including figurines, jewellery, ornaments, and home décor.
As a clay jewellery artist, she specialise in sculpting detailed and personalised designs, allowing for complete creative freedom in her work. Each piece begins with shaping the clay, after which it is carefully hardened through either air-drying or kiln firing, depending on the type of clay used. Once set, she finish the jewellery with paints, glazes, or varnishes to enhance its aesthetic appeal and ensure its durability. The versatility and tactile nature of clay make it the perfect medium for transforming raw material into unique, handcrafted pieces that are both artistic and wearable.
