When you think out loud about going to a place with a serene view and spend a few relaxing days, you’d often recall the mountains or the beach.

Little do people know how calming the effect of lakes can be - and equally enjoyable! And that’s why the city of lakes in India, Udaipur is a must visit anytime during the post monsoon months when it’s not humid or doesn’t rain too often.
With the new airport built, the influx of people from all around the world has increased rampantly, giving a tremendous rise to the tourism of the already thriving state of Rajasthan. It’s a state which has it all - from the wide Saharan desert to the mount Abu, and cities with massively impressive palaces like at Jaipur or Jodhpur and more.




Udaipur is a notable city with a concoction of culture, serenity and beauty! Home to major lakes such as the Fatehsagar Lake and Lake Pichola, it’s truly a spectacle to watch the sunsets or the sunrises over the lakes for that matter.

The city is divided into the old city (around Lake Pichola) and the new city (around the hub of Fatehsagar Lake). While big vehicles like cars or buses are difficult to maneuver in the old city, the new city has a decent infrastructure free to move in vehicles!

Trust me, you’d really want to take a bit of a hassle and book your stay in the old city hotels which has ghats (embankments) sprayed across the entire old town - with most of the hotels having a private lake view or a ghat attached to it for direct access!



Lake Pichola houses the Taj hotel right in the midst of it, which is accessible using a ferry only. However, boating activities are a constant around the lake and you’ll often find Diyas lit on most evenings, specially during the Diwali days!
The Udaipur City palace is a grand structure to visit, with a massive historic background - maintained impeccably by the royal family. The stories of the Royalty are endless and the tour of the museum is a no brainer!

Places like Khamma Ghani and Ambrai and the like are restaurants which serve lip smacking food right beside the lake, with the ambience leaving you in complete awe of the place. While meals at the luxury hotels like Uday Vilas (Oberoi) or Raffles might be expensive, but it would be tomfoolery to not check these places out, or even stay at them if your wallets suit the tariff they demand!



Karni mata temple is a religious spot often visited by most tourists, using a cable car. The view of the sunrise from the temple is a view to die for!

All in all, Udaipur is a city filled with a lively and an ecstatic environment where you just wouldn’t get bored! From beautiful spots to visit, to sight seeing the palace, to shopping on the old city streets, visiting the lakes, hogging street food, the city offers you all.
